Makeup Vanity

This is one of my all-time favorite gifts I have ever received, mostly because it gets used every single day! My mother-in-law got this for me last Christmas, and I honestly don’t know how I ever lived without one! The vanity is made from Beveled Mirrors and is part of the Hayworth Collection at Pier One. I think the mirror finish gives it a really chic movie-star effect that I absolutely love. I’m not a fan of the big clunky tri-fold mirrors that are meant to go with vanities so I made the one you see here. My parents had a huge square scrap piece of mirror in their garage that’s been there for as long as I can remember and they were kind enough to give it to me. I embellished the border with rhinestones by adhering them with double stick tape. I did it that way so that if I ever want to use the mirror for something else I can simply remove the rhinestones and have a blank canvas! Aside from looking beautiful, this vanity saves SO much space that used to be occupying our bathroom! I get asked A LOT about which beauty products I use and love, so if you’re interested in that at the end of the post I’ll include a list and links to all of that information.

On top of the vanity I keep my “everyday” makeup. Keep the things you use most here… your primers, foundation, mascaras, lip glosses and perfumes. You’ll be shocked at how much time you cut down on doing your makeup when everything’s already out and accessible at all times.

This vintage bathroom tumbler has been used for every thing in our house, from holding our toothbrushes to pens… but since it matches so well it is know used as a home for my makeup brushes, eye liner pencils and concealer tubes. This makes everything clearly visible and easy to grab! I have quite a large collection of brushes which I keep in a roll-up bag in the vanity drawer, but I always keep a foundation, an angled bronzer, a concealer, an eyeshadow and a finishing powder brush in here. Next to it I keep a small Eiffel Tower figurine that always makes me smile!

For our wedding, I had a small ceramic bowl made from an amazing artist in Texas. I had it made with a silver leaf edge and had the phrase “Ever thine, Ever Mine, Ever Ours” hand stamped into it along with our wedding date. I keep it on my vanity now to hold my jewelry every time I take it off.

In the drawer of the vanity I keep all the products that I use, but not everyday… more of my “special occasion” products. My extra brushes, eye shadow palettes, different color blushes, lip glosses, scissors and q-tips go here. Still easy to grab, but not cluttering up space since it doesn’t get used all the time.

What I Use: (*note: I only wear makeup maybe 1 or 2 days out of the week so even though there is tons of makeup here please don’t think I wear it all and all the time… and also since I wear it so little I spend a lot more on products than a person who wears make up every day might want to because aside from lip gloss and mascara, I very rarely have to replace them)

Skincare: Clinique Facial Soap in Mild, Clinique Clarifying Lotion in #2, Chanel Hydromax Serum Moisturizer during the day, Dior Hydra Life Pro-Youth Protective Creme at night and once a week I do a Philosophy Microdelivery Purifying Enzyme Peel

For the Face:  Smashbox Photo Finish Primer in Original clear or Dior Crystal Nude Skin PerfecterYves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Concealer in Ivory, Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation in 12 Biege Rose, Nars liquid illuminator in Orgasm, Chanel Poudre Universelle Finishing Powder in 20 Clair and Chanel Soleil Tan Bronzer and Nars Blush in Orgasm

For the Eyes: I use Too Faced the Return of Sexy palette for my everyday nude/metallics, for light smokey eye/jewel toned eye I used Tarte’s Limited Edition Pallete, for a brown smokey eye I use Sephora’s Palette which they no longer sell or I use Le Metier de Beaute’s Winter Kaleidoscope Kit, for a really bold black smokey eye I use Kat Von D’s palletes (either Adora Love and Fury or Metal Orchestra), all my mascaras are Dior and I layer them depending on the occasion… for everyday I just wear Diorshow in black waterproof, for a little bolder I wear Diorshow Blackout over that in kohl black waterproof, and for insanely intense lashes I start with the Diorshow Maximizer, put on Diorshow Extase and then finish off with the Blackout.

For the Lips: I always wear the same thing, a base of Dior Addict Lipstick in color 178 Urban with a lip gloss over (either Chanel Levres Scintillantes in 139 Futile or Le Metier de Beaute Sheer Brilliance Gloss in Cap D’Antibes, and for a lip balm i use Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Sheer Candy in Juicy Grapefruit.
